Effect of intrafollicular injection of an estrogen-receptor antagonist (fulvestrant) on follicular growth. A new follicular wave was induced (detailed in Methods) and 1, 10 or 100 μM fulvestrant (n = 3/group) was intrafollicularly injected when the largest follicle reached a diameter between 7 to 8 mm. Follicular diameters were monitored by daily ultrasound examinations until 72 h after intrafollicular treatment. Different letters indicate significant differences (P ≤0.05) between treatments within a time.
