Quantification of empty follicles during serial section analysis of WT and PM/PM ovaries. Follicle structures were identified that consisted of granulosa cells but did not show any sign of an oocyte in any serial section. An example of two empty follicles in a WT sample is shown in the serial sections in panel (a).
